What Exactly Is Life All About Anyway?
Human life is a strange thing. Every other animal on our planet has a purpose. They coexist with their enviroment, and each creature has a role in nature's big game of keeping everything balanced. However, there is one animal that keeps screwing things up for all the other animals: human beings.
In truth, humans are more like viruses than they are mammals. They take over an area, use it, reproduce, destroy it, and move on to the next victim. And what exactly is our role in nature? Do we have a purpose? The answer is simply: no. Our purpose is not to keep other species in check, or remove pests, or anyt

EDUCATION
The education system is very poor. Maybe, on a basic level, it does what it is supposed to, but as a whole, it teaches you nothing about the things that matter, such as how our country works. In many schools, social study is a subject lacking the support to adequately educate the public. Political thought should be stressed much more, considering that this current generation will decide our futures in the next decade through elections (at this rate, only 40% of them will…), and you can't rely on the news media to provide an accurate depiction of candidates. Just look at how they let George Bush and his administration slip!
If the
We've got problems. I am speaking for the students of Albion High School, but the entire United States, and particularly Michigan is having severe problems with the education system, and it seems as though their priorities need to be straightened out. Presently, I will briefly explain the current state of affairs, address specific problems that affect us right now, and propose some possible solutions.
Basically, the No Child Left Behind Act, as well as many other things, has caused schools in Michigan to struggle for funding, something that they now can neither get from the state or the federal government. NCLB says that failing schools shou
You know, it's interesting… The first cars ran on ethanol, and now America is struggling to produce it again, which is certainly ironic. It's ironic how in this current age, we are looking to the past for answers, something that just doesn't seem quite right. Instead of actively creating new fuels, we are looking to the past for alternatives: alternatives to gasoline that we could have used instead. It's interesting what being proactive will do for a society, but unfortunately, we live in a very reactive world: a world where people don't act until it is already too late, and then they complain about their situation.
So, as I said, there wer
What happens when you label something? When something is different, you say, "oh that's so weird!" This irks me very much, and it may have something to do with the way I was brought up, but let me give an analysis of exactly why I believe that labeling is wrong.
In today's culture, this equation holds true:
Anything outside of the norm = weird/strange
You might say, "Is that not the definition of weird?" Indeed it is, but the thing that makes this equation unjustified is the negative denotations that are implied by the words weird and strange. In other words, being weird or strange is considered a bad thing. I am wrong? I mean, just look

I'm absolutely sure that you've read a sci-fi novel or short story where teleportation was possible, watched an episode of Star-Trek a
How is it possible for one to think that he/she is superior to all others? How can one say that the world should be purged of its diversity? How is it possible for a man to honestly believe that another is inferior simply because of their ethnicity? Why are there fascists?
Throughout my life, I have tried to understand fascism and the National Socialist Movement here in America. It certainly seems absurd to think that one race can possibly be superior to all others simply because of their skin color. I was disgusted today to find the official website of the Nazi Movement. Banners all across the site say things like "Help Clean up America" w
